Several saints' masses, mostly only incipits notated. The mass for Petrus of Alexandria bishop and martyr is of particular interest as no other source in Cantus database as of April '22 reports it; the saint is commemorated in the 1528 Évora calendar.
Late Aquitanian notation of Portuguese variety. Lozanges indicate semitones in a rather consistent manner.
One taller initial in blue ink with red filigree; other initials less refined, in sepia ink with red filling.
16th - 17th c. hand across the exposed side (ff. Av - Br):
13 Maio 1545
27 Junho lo mismo
Diego Luis
Overall poor. Exposed side (fols. Ar - Bv) ink partially to badly faded; non-exposed side ink still legible. One major hole across the upper line of text and music affecting fol. B. Fol. A severly trimmed, accounting for 60-70% content loss.
Five lines of text and music, widely spaced.
Original foliation on top-left of fol. Bv (sic): 'cxxx'
Peter of Alexandria is celebrated variously on Nov. 25th (together with Catherine of Alexandria) or on Nov. 26th, after Chrysogonus on Nov. 24th: this leaves no doubt about the otherwise stark rubric 'Petri Episcopi' on f. Bv.
