Song of the Sibyl (introduction, refrain and five initial verses)
Square notation (Iberian variety) on 4 red lines. One clef. Custodes, sometimes left-headed, sometimes right-headed.
Alternating blue and red initials, with simple filigree, respectively red and blue. Verses initials in brown or yellow ink. Rubrics in red.
One modern inscription on the verso side, in red pencil, reads "247".
Fair. The folio has been used as a book cover and there is another piece of parchment sewn on the folio, probably to keep it together. The verso side was the external part of the cover and is quite dirty.
Single column, 8 lines of music alternating with text.
No foliation/pagination.
The Song of the Sybil was part of the Braga liturgy until the mid-20th century. This melodic version differs from the one documented in the cathedral since the early 16th century.
This fragment features the Song of the Sibyl, that sometimes occurs with textual variants. In this case, just before the actual chant starts, there is an additional sentence, which was traditional: "Audite quid dixerit", but lacking the final word, "Sybilla".
