Chant initials decorated in flourished red and blue. Other musical items decorated with bigger initials with the same sepia ink of text, sometimes red. Rubrics in red.
On the top right of fol. Cr: "doc. 3" (in pencil); on the right margin, 17th century inscriptions: "1617 a 1624", plus illegible lines of text and accounting calculus.
On the top right of fol. Ar.: "doc. 4" (in pencil).
On fol. Br, on top: "Nº I - Grândola" (modern writing)
On fol. Bv.: several 17th c. inscriptions, almost completely illegible. "De 1573 [...] ate 1587" can still be discerned.
These dates probably indicate the timeframe of accounting documents to which these bifolios were guard-leaves.
Fragment 004 (ff. A-B) poor: right side mutilated, ink in the exposed side readable with much difficulty. Inner side in good conditions, except for the loss of contents due to mutilation.
Fragment 003 (ff. C-D) poor: right side mutilated, ink in the exposed side ranges from completely faded out (top two lines) to readable with some difficulty (centre region).
One column, nine lines of text and music per page.
The second bifolio in the archive (Doc. 004) was actually first in the gathering of the original manuscript. The original order was here restored.
The strikingly decorated initials appearing on folios Av and Dr are particularly useful in confirming the two bifolio fragments were part of the same manuscript.
