This antiphonary contains the feasts from St. Andrew to St. Lawrence for an unidentified Hieronymite monastery. Several folios are missing and the manuscript is partly disordered. Folios 76 and 77 were initially placed between folios 35 and 36 (Inventio Crucis). Two bifolios from the feast of St. Paul and St. Peter, initially between folios 59 and 60, were used as flyleaves.

The texts of several of the chants, and sometimes the melodies as well, underwent alteration.

Type of script
Type of notation
Description of the notation

Black square notation with "Iberian pes" on five red lines. F and C clefs, custos.

Semi-mensural notation for an Invitatory (f. 40v) and for some brief responsories (f. 52r).

Decoration

No illuminations. The capital letters are in red, black and blue.

Inscriptions

The manuscript includes several marginal inscriptions (17th c.?) giving details about the chants to sing.

Material
Condition of document

The condition of the document is fair. There are lacunas between the following folios: 1-2, 4-5, 5-6, 8-9, 25-26, 28-29 (with new folios added), 29-30, 32-33, 35-36, 37-38, 49-50, 59-60, 62-63, 65-68 (folios lost after the foliation), 72-73, 75-76, 77-78, 79-80. Furthermore, the manuscript shows signs of water damage and ink corrosion.

Page layout

One column and six lines/page.

Foliation/Pagination

Arabic modern foliation (17th c.?) at the top right corner. This foliation was probably written when the manuscript was rebound and the folios cut to be adjusted to the size of the new binding.

Bindings

The binding is not the original one, which was larger.
