P-BRad Pasta 101
Red line for notation. Small to medium neumes. Irregular spacing of neumes within the notational field occasionally obscures melodic clarity, perhaps owing to limited space between syllables.
Alternating red and black initials at the beginning of chants, without filigree; simpler red initials for verses. Rubrics in red. Occasional marginal notes in black ink. Textual initials in red with filigree.
Av: three inscriptions in brown ink; between columns, “Saõ Juliaõ da Silva 1684 (…)”; at right margin, “Saõ […]ão de Silva”.
Br: two modern inscriptions, “101” (red pencil) and “Caixa 286 nº 2” (pencil); two further inscriptions in brown ink, mostly illegible owing to trimming.
Bv: at upper margin, early inscription (probably original): “XXIIII.”
Bifolium well preserved. No continuity of liturgical content between folios. Lower edge trimmed, with loss of text. Formerly used as a book cover; borders folded to fit the binding. Fol. B with additional cuts at upper and lower edges. Minimal surface dirt; few small stains.
Two columns. Exact number of lines indeterminate owing to loss at lower edge. In notated sections, alternating lines of text and music, corresponding in number to the purely textual sections.
