Description of the notation

The use of the virga and punctum in recitation passages (fol. 47v) is typical of sources belonging to the Clairvaux family (this applies to Galician and Portuguese monasteries).

Material
Condition of document

Fair. Folios were trimmed in excess, with loss of contents.

Page layout

Average folio dimensions: 350 mm x 245 mm. Folio 32r: 348 mm x 243 mm. One column, ten tetragrams per page.

Foliation/Pagination

The original foliation was trimmed away. There are at present two layers of modern foliation (ink or pencil), the older one often cut away by further trimming; some folios are left unnumbered. The number foliation in pencil is very recent, for it does not appear in the photos taken for PEM; it apparently missed a folio between fols. 178 and 200. In this, it may have followed the older foliation in ink. The latter supposed a quire no longer present: «223» corresponds to 208.

Bindings

Leather over boards.

Remarks

This is a composite manuscript. The earliest portion probably dates from the first years of the 13th century, and corresponds to folios 1-121, 167v-177 and 201v-207 (Cantica, from a different hand; no music except for a tiny detail). The most recent sections of the manuscript were added in the first quarter of the 14th century but are not independent: they were meant to complement the older layer. They correspond to folios 122-167r, 177v (bottom tetragram)-201r, 208-217 (this section, Corpus Christi, probably written after 1318). A paper sheet (now identified as fol. 206bis) was added later between fols. 207 and 208.
